After completing his studies at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, Philip Hearsey continued to explore his artistic interests spending many years in architecture as well as interior & furniture design. Hearsey now specialises in sandcasting to make sculptures that, ‘engage the quality of bronze as a noble material in its own right.’
Philip is an experienced British sculptor who has exhibited his work throughout the UK. He lives on the Welsh Borders of Herefordshire - a beautifully remote an untouched place which clearly inspires his sculptures.
Specialising in sandcasting to create sculptures that, ‘engage the quality of bronze as a noble material in its own right,‘ Hearsey's sculptures showcase smart simplicity, intriguing shapes and a tactile touch. Each piece is intimate in scale and intended for the interiors of not just homes but offices, hotels and yachts.
Philip manipulates cast bronze, ‘to create unique forms before invariably exposing the natural bronze or oxidizing to produce unique surfaces’ – the essential dimension of his work.
‘Bronze is eternal – yet malleable.’
