Gallery Assistant
Part Time
We are looking for a friendly, creative, and highly computer-literate Gallery Assistant to join our team at R Young Art Gallery. This varied role combines gallery sales, customer service, social media, and day-to-day gallery operations, alongside fine art printing and artwork scanning support.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist customers with artwork sales and provide outstanding customer service.
Manage daily gallery operations, including stock management, artwork display, and transactions.
Operate fine art printing and artwork scanning equipment.
Prepare, edit, resize, and colour-correct artwork files for printing and digital use.
Manage the gallery’s social media accounts and create engaging content.
Update the gallery website and use relevant software for gallery operations.
Create marketing emails, blogs, and promotional material.
Ensure the gallery is always presentable, organised, and welcoming.
Coordinate with artists, customers, and suppliers when required.
Must Haves:
Strong appreciation and understanding of fine art.
Excellent experience with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, and other creative software.
Highly proficient with computer applications, digital systems, and file management.
Experience with Microsoft applications, especially Excel.
Comfortable learning and operating professional printing and scanning equipment.
Strong sales and customer service skills.
Numerically and financially astute.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
Creative, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and proactive.
Punctual, reliable, and well-presented.
Able to work weekends as needed.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Experience within a gallery, creative, or retail environment.

Picture Framer
Part-Time & Holiday Cover
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Picture Framer to join our team on a part-time basis with the opportunity for holiday cover. As a Picture Framer, you will be responsible for framing artwork to the highest standard and ensuring that all pieces are professionally presented. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Propose framing solutions and take framing orders using company software.
Design layouts for multi aperture mounts and arrangements of multiple items of memorabilia.
Order materials required for framing and manage framing orders and timelines.
Measure, cut, and assemble frames with precision.
Cut mounts, foam boards and other materials for mounting.
Prepare and mount shirts, fabrics, crafts, memorbilia and objects ready for framing.
Mount artwork using various techniques, including hinge and float-mounting.
cut and assemble stretcher bar frames and stretch canvas.
Dry mount artwork and laminate prints using our hot vacuum press.
Maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Serve customers with artwork from the sales area, providing expert advice and framing recommendations.
Machinery and Tools You Will Use:

Alfamachine underpinner and Hoffman router
Flexipoint driver, electric drill, screwdriver and stapler

Must-Haves:
Minimum of 2 years' experience as a picture framer is ideal.
Numerically and financially astute, with proficiency in maths. A level preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
High-quality craftsmanship with a keen eye for fine detail.
Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
Ability to work independently, managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
Full UK driving license and has access to a car.
Strong customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively.
Strong organizational skills.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Experience with a range of framing techniques and materials.
Knowledge of art conservation practices.
Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator and Canva is beneficial.

Gallery Manager
Part Time
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Gallery Manager to oversee the daily operations of the gallery. This role involves managing artwork sales, customer relations, and ensuring the gallery’s smooth running.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily gallery operations, including stock management, artwork display and transactions.
Assist with artwork sales and provide outstanding customer service.
Manage the gallery’s social media accounts and create engaging content.
Ensure the gallery is always presentable and welcoming.
Update the website and use relevant software for gallery operations.
Create marketing emails and blogs to attract and engage with customers.
Coordinate events, exhibitions, and liaise with artists.
Coordinate B2B marketing activities with interior designers, offices, hotels, art retailers, etc.
Must-Haves:
Strong appreciation and understanding of fine art.
Proven experience in sales and customer service.
Tech-savvy, with knowledge of Microsoft applications (especially Excel).
Numerically & financially astute (proficient in maths)
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
Creative and proficient with social media platforms.
Physically active; able to hang artwork using a ladder up to 3m high.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and takes initiative.
Punctual, reliable, and well-presented.
A car owner with a valid driving license.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Able to work weekends.

Experience in a gallery setting or arts industry.

Event Assistant
Part Time
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Event Assistant to support gallery events, exhibitions, fairs, and external art activities at R Young Art Gallery. This is a varied and hands-on role involving customer interaction, event support, sales assistance, and helping ensure events run smoothly and professionally.
Key Responsibilities:
Support gallery events, exhibitions, workshops, and external art fairs.
Assist with the setup, organisation, and pack-down of events and exhibitions.
Help maintain the orderly appearance and cleanliness of the gallery before, during, and after events.
Assist with tidying, cleaning, and resetting the gallery following events.
Assist with artwork sales and provide excellent customer service during events and daily gallery operations.
Support sales, marketing, and promotional activities for gallery events and exhibitions.
Assist with social media content and customer engagement where required.
Coordinate with artists, customers, suppliers, and event attendees.
Must-Haves:
Strong appreciation and understanding of fine art and creative events.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Friendly, confident, and customer-focused approach.
Highly organised with good time-management skills.
Creative, proactive, and self-motivated.
