Dana Sorokina

Painter

Ireland

Dana Sorokina is a Latvian-born, Dublin-based contemporary artist whose work is distinguished by vibrant floral compositions created with a bold palette knife technique. Working primarily in oils, she builds richly textured surfaces where colour and movement take precedence over fine detail, resulting in expressive, immersive paintings. Her practice is rooted in spontaneity and an alla prima approach, allowing each piece to develop intuitively. Through this process, Dana Sorokina captures the energy and vitality of flowers, transforming familiar botanical forms into dynamic, emotionally resonant works. Originally from Riga, Dana now lives and works in Dublin, where she has developed her artistic practice through dedicated study and active engagement with the local art community. Her work has been exhibited across Ireland and is held in private collections internationally. Flowers remain central to her visual language—serving as a vehicle to explore themes of joy, resilience, and transformation. Her paintings are designed not as literal representations, but as expressive interpretations that bring colour, texture, and a sense of life into contemporary spaces.
