Nicky originally trained as a designer (BA Hons Fashion, Central St Martin's, London 1993). Following this she pursued life drawing, though her love of textiles has stayed with and clearly still influences her work. This can be seen through her use of not only colour, but texture and pattern too. Figures were either quick, gestural drawings or multi-layered combinations of ink, paint, collage and resin. Now Nicky's work, although still created using the same techniques, often depict trees, landscapes and nature. She focuses on how the changes of the seasons, both the physical, and differences in light, are ever-changing and always beautiful. Often embellishing her work with gold or silver leaf, her work adds a contemporary, luxurious element to any room.
