About the Event: Participants will weave a roughly 9cm square piece of textile art using a variety of different textured yarns in coastal tones reminiscent of a summer’s day at the beach, with not a cloud in the sky! They will learn how to do plain weave and add a little texture with knots; remove the weaving from the loom and weave in the ends; and then mount the weaving onto a 15cm square piece of mountboard, all ready to pop in a 15cm/6 inch square frame.

About the artist: Ali Lou Field is a weaver and dyer, and creates landscape inspired woven art combined with embroidery, and highly-textured contemporary framed weavings. Her work is drawn from the natural world. She aims to capture the serenity and beauty of nature and landscapes, and infuse the emotions they evoke into her weavings. Ali is a member of the British Tapestry Group, and the West Surrey Guild of Spinners, Weaver and Dyers.

Our classes provide a relaxed and enjoyable introduction to creative skills, including various painting techniques. They offer an opportunity to learn something new, socialize with like-minded individuals, and have fun!

Throughout the class, an experienced artist will provide step-by-step guidance, showcasing their techniques through live demonstrations. You'll create your own artwork under their expert tutelage, and take it home with you afterwards. All materials are included, and we'll even take care of the cleanup!

Our classes are perfect for group activities with friends, individuals seeking new acquaintances, or work colleagues looking for team building exercises. Held in our contemporary and stylish gallery, our classes comfortably seat up to 12 people, and last for 2 hours, during which refreshments are available.
