A Flutter of Precision: Bespoke Butterfly Commission in Finchampstead

One of Sarah’s most intricate recent commissions was for a client in Finchampstead who wanted to create a statement feature in their dining room. The brief was beautifully simple: a chosen colour theme, and complete trust in Sarah to take care of the rest.

She designed a series of three large-scale sculptural paper artworks, featuring a total of 407 individually handcrafted butterflies. Each piece was carefully measured and framed, with a grid-based layout to reflect the client’s love of structure and uniformity. The result is both striking and serene—a calming wall installation that adds movement, texture, and personal style to their home.

This commission, like all of Sarah’s butterfly work, is incredibly time-consuming and detail-focused. Each butterfly is sculpted by hand from fine paper, requiring patience, precision, and an artistic eye to bring them together as a cohesive whole. The final effect is a blend of contemporary design and delicate craftsmanship.
