Before You Order
Please carefully read the additional information sections below and if in doubt, contact us to discuss your requirements. The size listed is the media size.
If you are able, size the digital image to the exact size required in mm.
Ensure that the digital image size required fits within the media size on both dimensions.
If an intermediate size is required, select the larger size.
If the image is not sized, the image will be printed as large as possible within the media size without cropping.
If the image is not sized and a specific image size is required, contact us to let us know.
- Canvas prints with a 1cm border are suitable for mounting on board. The border may be larger than 1cm on two opposite sides due to the canvas roll width which may be trimmed as required.
- Canvas prints with a 5cm border are suitable for stretching on bars. The image is extended into the border where possible to facilitate a ‘gallery wrap’ where the image also covers the sides.
Bar type use:
- Std bars are 35mm wide x 19mm deep and are suitable for small canvas sizes and hanging unframed, or framing in a traditional standard frame or a contemporary tray frame.
- Premium bars are 45mm wide x 20mm deep and are suitable for large canvas sizes and hanging unframed, or framing in a traditional standard frame or a contemporary tray frame.
- Gallery bars are 44mm wide x 44mm deep and are suitable for all canvas sizes and hanging unframed, or framing in a contemporary tray frame.
The artwork image is extended around the sides where possible.
Standard stretcher bars are available in 2” increments. Where a specific size is required, we manufacture the stretcher bar frame to the exact size required.
Are varnished for resilience using satin varnish. Matt or gloss is also available at no additional cost. Contact us if required.
All types of bars may be hung unframed as they are fitted with adjustable hangers and protection bumpers. Alternative double D rings and hanging string are also available at no additional cost. Contact us if required.
- Each print is individually hand embellished by ourselves, using a course haired brush for texture and acrylic medium to replicate an original, also acrylic varnish for resilience.
- The finished prints are waterproof hence glazing is not required and the surface may be dusted and wiped clean as admirers will definitely touch the surface!
- A gloss finish is standard though a satin or matt finish is available at no additional cost. Contact us if required.
Canvas prints are suitable for:
- Hinge mounting behind a mount (matt) with a nominal 3mm overlap and framing behind glass.
- Adding metal leaf, which should be sealed to prevent tarnishing and oxidisation.
- Hand embellishing using acrylic and mixed media.
- Varnishing or laminating.
- Dry mounting and framing.
Note that canvas does not bond to adhesive boards or tapes very well and is prone to bubbles, wrinkles and coming loose. Dry mounting is the best method of mounting canvas on board.
The higher the image resolution you provide us with, the better.
Industry standard publishing quality is 300dpi, which is ideal, though we recommend a minimum of 72dpi.
We upscale all images to 300dpi before printing to preserve the existing image definition, but we cannot create new definition that is not in the original image we receive.
We print all images exactly as received and match each print as closely as possible to the image as displayed on our computer screen.
We are able to provide A4 proofs on paper upon request and this is recommended if colour, tone and contrast are particularly critical.
We are able to edit images to crop, extend into a bleed or border, remove blemishes and make colour / brightness / contrast changes upon request and at a nominal charge.
Contact us to discuss any editing required.
If you would like to discuss framing options, contact us to discuss.
All prints should either be framed behind glass, varnished or laminated for resilience.
Prints should not contact the glass or they will deteriorate over time. Always use a mount to separate the canvas from the glass.
Handle prints carefully to avoid creasing or scuffing. Do not roll tightly. Do not touch or rub the surface. Do not expose to moisture.
Contact us at info@ryoung-art.com to discuss any aspect of the above pertaining to your order.
