I’m a contemporary oil painter with a background in graphic design, creating work that sits somewhere between traditional and contemporary painting. I’ve been making art for as long as I can remember, but after studying Graphic Communication and pursuing a career in design, fine art took a back seat for a while. During the COVID period, I reconnected with painting and have been developing my practice ever since.
I’m particularly inspired by the detail, symbolism and storytelling of Renaissance art, combined with the boldness and freedom of contemporary painting. I paint people, animals and objects that hold personal significance, often reimagining familiar subjects in unexpected ways through bold colour, contrast and layered textures. Oil paint is the medium I connect with most, as its slow drying time allows me to experiment, revisit and refine a piece as it develops.
I currently balance my artistic practice alongside my career as a Product Designer, dedicating much of my spare time to painting and exhibiting my work. Ultimately, I hope to make art my full-time career and continue creating work that feels personal, expressive and encourages people to look at familiar subjects in a new way.
