Nancy Chambers

Painter

All Artwork by Nancy Chambers

Nancy began exhibiting in 2019 and within a year was invited to exhibit alongside some of the UK’s most accomplished artists including 5 Turner Prize winners and artists such as Antony Gormley, Grayson Perry and Maggi Hambling.
Her artistic endeavors began at an early age and she painted throughout a 30 year career in the charity sector before becoming a professional artist. Her artwork has since received wide appreciation and hangs in homes as far afield as New York, Jerusalem and Melbourne.
Nancy aims to capture the essence rather than a literal interpretation of each subject. She enjoys not just the colour but the textural quality of the paint she uses and works with both to achieve the finished painting. With a poppy for instance, she creates her own ‘palette knives’ from recycled plastic.
Along with flowers, Nancy has also become known for her interpretative seascapes, landscapes and abstract works, usually working in acrylics but with some collage and mixed media too.
During the first Covid 19 lockdown in the UK, Nancy created a series of small fruit paintings of which she is still adding to.
The common thread of in the subject matter of all Nancy’s paintings is her love of nature, inspired by trips around the coast of South West England and time spent growing plants in her small city garden.
