Serenity
Lauren Neville's collection is inspired by escaping. The collection is called ‘surface level’ hoping that each painting relates to everyone differently depending on how they see it and what they see first. Although on surface level we see a beautiful seascape, if you look closer it comes alive in different ways depending on which surfer you look closer too. This represents us as humans and the individual story’s we hold underneath our ‘surface level’.
The technique Lauren used to create them is a scenic technique which involves building up the layers underneath the initial idea to gradually reveal them when you build up the artwork. For instance she starts with a bright background and uses layer upon layer to create the illusion of the depth. The layers are then rubbed back to reveal the brightest aspect of her artwork.
